“How can you take the Gospel global when you refuse to move?”
This past week I witnessed people with so much joy to have so very little.
I seen a community live in a land fill where everyday they searched through garbage to maybe find something valuable they could resell or use. Or maybe even find their next meal.
I experienced the true meaning of up hill both ways.
I seen complete strangers become family. I seen shy and timid become bold.
I’ve got more stories than most of you even care about listening to, which is the sad truth.
America is spoilt, prideful, and lost in the chaos.
While we criticize other churches for how they worship, what they wear, if they sell coffee on Sunday morning, etc., etc., we miss the point. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
But let me tell you about my church services this week-
We brought the church to a crippled lady sitting out side her house, praying that someone would come by and go up to her garden to pick some rosemary for her. The rosemary tea was the only thing that would soothe her pain. We went inside her home and prayed with her. I’ve never felt the spirit of God so intense in my life I thought the roof was about to fly off this house.
-We had church in a (90 degree) 300 square foot house.
We brought the church to several different schools, one school in particular we sang worship songs in Spanish and I could not stop weeping. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.
-We had church in a 2 room school house.
We brought the church to a drunk passed out drooling on the side of the street. #ShouldWeWakeHimUp? His wife left him. He recently had an accident leaving him in pain and limping. He ran away with joy stopping to look back with the biggest smile.
-We had church on a side walk in the middle of a land fill.
Thank you Jesus, thank you Guatemala and thank you Hands of Hope International. The best experience of my life. It’s all God, we were just obedient enough to say yes.
Being able to experience my first foreign mission trip with my wife, Arianna Fowler has been an incredible blessing that I will never forget.
